11/11/2020 0 Comments Routine & ScheduleI know that we are in a groove with school and hope to stay in that groove for the foreseeable future. However, it might be important to plan for the future in the event that our district does go remote. I am hoping that we don't need to, as all students (and staff) are better in school. It is necessary and important, however, to be prepared so that the transition would go much more smoothly than it did last spring!

I know I haven't posted much... but it's because we're in school and I am super psyched about that! However, I plan to get better at checking in with how everyone is doing... whether you are in school or learning from home!
I have heard nothing but GERAT things about how students are adjusting both to in-person learning and at-home digital learning. I know this year is different, but that's okay! We have shown that as a Canfield family, anything is possible! So.... feel free to check in using the: 1. Zones (which zone are you in, why, and if not in Green, what can you do to get there?) 2. Are there specific times of day/week that you aren't in green? Why is that? What can you put into place to ensure that you stay in green or can at least get back to green when you are trying to complete your school work? 3. Emotions - let me know what emotions you are feeling and how can we stay consistent and/or open to the differences in how we feel from day to day. I am in the blue today - end of the week, lots to do, and just tired. But I'm looking forward to recharging over the weekend and coming back in the GREEN on Monday! I hope you all stay really safe, happy, and are learning the best way that YOU can for RIGHT now. Please reach out if you ever need anything! This website would probably have been helpful during the closure... BUT, if you are a parent who feels like their children missed out on SO much (I’m sure most of you do), then this is something they could inform what you do in the summer, too!

I will post their website if you want to look it over. However, I am also posting a podcast that you, parents, might want to give a listen to. :) I hope you all are having a great end to the school year and start of summer!
Challenge Day https://www.challengeday.org/ Five Pandemic Parenting Lessons https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/parenting-forward/id1403686245?i=1000474951309 5/27/2020 0 Comments Following through...I am sharing something with you that I cannot take credit for; however, it is such good information (even if it seems so simple). It is SO important to follow through whenever you are giving demands to your children, no matter how small! Take a look at this visual as a reminder that consistency is key, what to do when you give a directive, and when you don't think you can follow through with a directive. Please let me know if you have any questions about the information you read!
This is an oldie, but a goodie! Although this is something that I share with teachers as a resource, I think it completely fits with parenting, as well! Read this over and please let me know if you have any questions! These might be things you already do or you might not even know that you are doing/saying something that would affect the compliance of your child. Either way, this is a great reminder! I hope you enjoy and I hope this helps you if you need it!

5/13/2020 0 Comments Post #1!Hello, Canfield family! We are looking to share some resources geared toward social/emotional awareness with our students and their families. This is such a different, difficult, and uncharted time in our community; so, we want to be able to support those who need it as much as we can. Please check back often for resources, books, ideas, etc about how to support your child and your whole family during this time that we cannot be face to face with you. We hope that you can find some solace and comfort here during this time. Thinking of you often!
